Welactin Equine is a rich source of the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA derived from salmon and other cold water fish, to support overall equine wellness. Welactin Equine has been molecularly distilled for quality, purity and safety. EPA and DHA have been identified as healthy fatty acids.
While you probably already know about the importance of the omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) to human health, these fatty acids, found in Welactin Equine, play an important role in the overall health of your horse as well. Omega-3 fatty acids are essential fatty acids, meaning they must be obtained from the diet. The long chain omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA are responsible for many metabolic processes in the horse’s body and are derived from fish oils. Fatty acids derived from certain plant-based sources, such as flaxseed, are short chain omega-3 fatty acids, and these may not provide the same health benefits of long chain omega-3 fatty acids. While short chain fatty acids can be converted to the long chain omega-3s, this conversion is not efficient. Therefore, it is better to directly provide long chain omega-3 fatty acids in the diet.
